President Trump on Thursday called on AT&T to fire Jeff Zucker.
President Trump on Thursday called for the firing of CNN president Jeff Zucker. "The hatred and extreme bias of me by @CNN has clouded their thinking and made them unable to function. But actually, as I have always said, this has been going on for a long time," Trump said in a tweet. "Little Jeff Z has done a terrible job, his ratings suck, & AT&T should fire him to save credibility!" The president has long accused the news outlet of being dishonest in its reporting, but this particular tweet followed his objections to a story written in part by famed Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein and published by CNN in July. It asserted that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen claimed that the now-president "knew in advance about the June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower in which Russians were expected to offer his campaign dirt on Hillary Clinton." Weeks later, Cohen's attorney Lanny Davis said that his client had no such knowledge, and took responsibility for the claim, notes the Washington Post. Both CNN and Bernstein have defended the reporting.
