NASA to Send Astronauts to Moon by 2024 NASA will send humans back to the moon’s surface. The agency plans to build a space station called Gateway around the moon. and have astronauts land there sometime after 2026. They will later land on the moon sometime after 2026. The Gateway will be made up of a few components: a habitat module for the astronaut crew and a module that provides power and propulsion. An airlock will even allow the incoming spacecraft to dock
with the station. But, NASA has yet to create any of these components. The agency hopes to build the power module and launch it by 2022 on a commercial rocket.
