The mother of a 16-year-old boy, born with profound hearing loss, cried with joy when the teenager could hear clearly after his cochlear implant was turned on, video posted to an audiologist’s Facebook page shows.The video was posted on August 14 by Gofran Smadi, an audiologist at Hearex Center in Amman, Jordan. “Ahmad Naser was suffering from profound hearing loss since birth. He can hear normally now after the cochlear operation,” Smadi told Storyful.In the video, the audiologist can be heard counting before turning the implant on. “Hi, how are you,” she asks. “What’s up Ahmad? Ahmad, how is the sound?”The boy’s mother, who is sitting next to him, bursts into tears and kisses his hand saying “you can hear.” Ahmad, too, is overcome with emotion.
