Malaysia celebrates Hungry Ghost Festival

The Hungry Ghost Festival is a traditional Buddhist and Taoist celebration held on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, which this years falls on August 25.  On that night, it’s said that the “Gates of Hell” will open and all the ghosts will roam the world of the living. Malaysian-Chinese devotees prayed to the guardian god of ghosts “Da Shi Ye” in Kuala Lumpur on August 19 for protection from the hungry, wandering souls.
