United Launch Alliance have successfully launched the 10th Delta IV Heavy rocket to date, with it being the first to have a solid motor Star-48BV third stage. Liftoff took place at 07:31 UTC, August 12th 2018 from Cape Canaveral's Space Launch Complex 37B. The rocket carried NASA's Parker Solar Probe into orbit.

The Parker Solar Probe will be the first spacecraft to fly into the low solar corona. It will determine the structure and dynamics of the Sun's coronal magnetic field, understand how the solar corona and wind are heated and accelerated, and determine what processes accelerate energetic particles
