Curious orangutan enjoys homemade chewing gum
  • 6 years ago
Benji the orangutan loves chewing and has made homemade gum out a piece of cardboard box.

The Borneo orangutan was captured chewing and inspecting the makeshift gum at his home in the Dudley Zoo in the West Midlands.

But he clearly has forgotten his manners – the great ape can be heard chewing from a distance.

Benji is set to celebrate his 41st birthday this November.

He was born in 1977 at Duisburg zoo, Germany. In 1978 he transferred to Wuppertal Zoo before a move to Ireland in 1994.

Benji arrived in Dudley in 1996.

The footage was captured on April 6.
