Amish Man Starts His Own Unique Version of Uber 32-year-old Timothy Hochstedler has started his own 'Amish Uber' service in the state of Michigan. Hochstedler tells CNN affiliate WWMT that he is not affiliated with Uber in any way and just likes
the name. At just $5 a ride, the Amish Uber is a hit with Amish locals in the town of Colon, as well as with visitors to
the village. Since Hochstedler doesn't own a cell phone, customers have to flag him to catch a ride. Hochstedler says the Uber is an opportunity to get to know visitors while offering them a chance to take in the tiny, quaint village of Colon. As of 2016, the town is home is just over 1,100 people.
