According to a report by Reuters, Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that it has tapped US actor Steven Seagal to be its special representative for Russian-U.S. humanitarian ties, a role intended to deepen cultural, art and youth ties between the two countries. President Vladimir Putin reportedly presented Seagal with a Russian passport in 2016, saying that he hoped it would serve as a symbol of how tensions between Moscow and Washington were starting to improve.
