Asian Games torch passes through Japanese wartime tunnel in Indonesia
  • 6 years ago
Ahead of the 2018 Asian Games, scheduled to start August 18, the official torch travelled through a historic local landmark in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra.

The torch passed through the so-called Japan Hole, a World War II tunnel dug by the Japanese that has been preserved as a tourist site.

The Asian Games started in 1951 as a pan-Asian sporting competition similar to the Olympics. Currently the 18th Games are to take place in both Jakarta and Palembang.
