NZOMO THE MAN WHO WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERA ASSAULTING HIS WIFE IN MAKUENI FINALLY ARRESTED

Daudi Nzomo, a man seen in a video that went viral since Tuesday where he is captured beating wife mercilessly athis home atKangondi, Muvau, Makueni constituency has claimed that he gave his wife one blow over unfaithful marriage.

The suspect was speaking shortly after his arrest at Nguu area, Nzaui sub-county where security officers were tipped

“I gave my wife only one blow after finding her with another man”, said Nzomo while at Makueni police station’s crime office.

On Tuesday, in an interview with the suspect’s wife, Ms Everlyn mwende, gave her version that her husband has been accusing her of unfaithfulness in marriage. " i told him to show me the men he was accusing me with but instead started kicking me and raining blows to me" mwende told Kyeni tv in her hospital bed with a frail tone some miniutes before she was was transferd to Nairobi women hospital.

Confirming the arrest in a press conference, Makueni County Commissioner said that they had formed a multi-agency security committee that will look at matters of Gender based Violence saying the government will not tolerate such cases.

“We have formed a multi-agency committee that will ensure that Gender Based Violence in the County comes to a halt, we will not tolerate this”, said Maalim.

Further, the County Boss said those were heard in the video “celebrating” the act will be pursued and arrested as soon as they get a lead.

“Those who witnessed this, and failed to report is against the law, they will not be spared”, he warned.

According to the Makueni County Police Commander, Joseph Ole Naipeiyan, the suspect will be arraigned in court to answer charges of assault and grievous body harm.

Makueni Deputy governor Adelina Ndeto mwau cautioned all women living in abusive marriages to quit for their safety before the worst happens. "you are saying you dont want to leave your children, what if you die! whom will you leave the children with?" said agitated deputy governor.
