NICTA CEO, Charles Punaha, says the partnership with the Council of Churches is on-going and urged people in the rural areas to register their SIM Cards.

He said this given the lack of proper identification documents many in remote parts of the country may not have.

He said the churches have a strong presence in remote and the clergy men can identify locals for the purposes of SIM Registration.

NICTA has extended the registration window for Districts, to December 31st, while remote parts of the country have been given until April 2019.

Meanwhile the deactivation of SIMs will begin for areas within a 30 kilometre radius of Provincial capitals at midnight August 01st.
