Massive sandstorm swallows Chinese city apocalypse style

GOLMUD, CHINA — A massive sandstorm a couple of weeks agoswallowed Golmud city, in the Chinese province of Qinghai, severely reducing visibility.
Golmud, in the Chinese province of Qinghai, is located high-up on the Tibetan plateau, 9,200 feet above sea level. Hence, the region often experiences extreme meteorological conditions.
A week ago, while the rest of the country was facing record-hot temperatures and torrential rain showers, the area saw a significant amount of snowfall.
But on June 25th, around 7:30 p.m., the people of Golmud suddenly had a much more terrifying vision. A massive cloud of sand suddenly appeared, coming fast toward the city.
Netizens were quick to grab their phones and film the apocalyptic phenomenon. For an unknown reason, the Chinese government decided to take down most footage from social media.
According to local reports, the gigantic cloud was almost 300 feet high. Within the cloud, visibility was extremely reduced, down to 300 feet in the outskirts of Golmud. Authorities issued warnings through loudspeakers, asking drivers not to go faster than 25 miles per hour.
No casualties were reported.
