Indonesian authorities rescued hundreds of people trapped at Mount RInjani on July 30 and 31, following a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck Lombok Island on Sunday, July 29.A total of 543 people, including 189 foreign tourists, were evacuated on July 30, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said.Its spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in the morning of July 31, rescuers found the remaining six hikers, seven local residents, and the body of the Indonesian tourist who died in the landslide caused by the quake, at Rinjani, and that all were en route to Sembalun village.The July 29 quake killed 16 people, including the Indonesian hiker and a Malaysian tourist, and injured 355 people and damaged more than 1,400 houses, BNPB said.The video, shared online on July 30, captures from the moments when a group of hikers witnessed the landslide at Mount Rinjani to the time when they reached safety following a long trek down the mountain.Instagram user Raya Nugraha said after waiting in vain, he and fellow hikers decided to descend the mountain by themselves on July 30. It took them eight hours before reaching the Sembalun mountain post at around 5 pm, and were transported by the rescue team in a car to the Gunung Rinjani National Park Office.
