Monsoon rains in Cox’s Bazar in southeastern Bangladesh have caused flooding and landslides, putting the lives of over 7,000 Rohingya refugees in danger.This footage, distributed by the British Red Cross in Cox’s Bazar, shows a glimpse of the flooded conditions in the area.At least 28 inches of rain have fallen in Cox’s Bazar since July 25, according to a press release from the British Red Cross, resulting in 21 landslides and the destruction of more than 200 makeshift homes. A team of Red Cross volunteers have been providing emergency medical care in the area as well as hygiene support to prevent the spread of disease, since many of the latrines in Cox’s Bazar are in low-lying areas affected by the floodwaters.Channel NewsAsia and Reuters reported that over a thousand people living in Cox’s Bazar have been forced to relocate since the onset of the rains, and at least five non-Rohingya children from a village bordering the refugee camps were killed in landslides on July 25.
