Cabin crew workers for low-cost airline Ryanair went on strike this week over working conditions, forcing tens of thousands of passengers to make last-minute travel adjustments at the peak of the summer holiday season.

Ryanair said the 50,000 customers affected by the cancellation of 600 flights were given alternative seats or offered full refunds.

Footage shows passengers stranded at El Prat airport in Barcelona on July 25.
