Hundreds of Migrant Parents
May Have Been Deported
Without Their Children A court filing by the Trump administration Monday estimated the number of deported parents under its "zero tolerance" policy to be 463. The report, filed to U.S. District Court Judge Dana Babraw, is not a definitive tally of those deported and offered no explanation for the deportations. The estimate of 463 parents deported without their children amounts to nearly one-fifth of all families separated under the "zero tolerance" policy. Stephen Kang, ACLU attorney, via 'The Washington Post' Immigrant advocates say some parents may have signed voluntary deportation forms out of desperation to
be released. The Trump administration says all deported parents gave written consent and were informed of their rights in their native language. The court filing also revealed
that 879 parents have been
reunited with their children. The 30-day deadline issued by Judge Sabraw to reunite the separated families expires on Thursday.
