Robert De Niro is in talks to join the upcoming DC film **Joker**.
TheWrap reports De Niro would play a talk show host that plays a role in the Joker’s origins.
Todd Phillips will direct the film.
Joaquin Phoenix is set to star.
Zazie Beetz is also in talks to star in the film as a single mother whom the Joker takes interest in.
**Joker** is set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
