US cornered over jihadis contesting poll; sends star warning to Pak ahead of elections
  • 6 years ago
The US remains concerned about LeT affiliates contesting the upcoming Pakistan elections on July 25. In a June statement, the US department had said it was pleased to note that Pakistan had rejected registration of the Milli Muslim League, a political front of Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaatud Dawa. In the earlier statement, the US also noted that it had amended its foreign terrorist organisation designation of let in April to add the MML as a Lashkar alias. The US reportedly remains concerned about free and fair elections in Pakistan and has repeatedly told the nation to reject LeT or LeT associated individuals and organisations from the election process.
