Dentists Approve Ditching
This Part of Your
Oral Health Routine Oral health is important, as it can affect other parts of your body besides your mouth, like your heart. Flossing, brushing and using mouthwash have been the standards for oral care for the past few decades. But it turns out that all of
that isn't quite necessary. The one part of your routine
that you can skip is the mouthwash. Brushing your teeth for five seconds works better
than mouthwash, Lance Vernon, DMD, told
Apartment Therapy. Some people assume that it can often replace brushing, which it can't. It can also dry out
your mouth and cause hypersensitivity. Mouthwash just can't get in along your gum line where it needs to be. However, if you enjoy having it as part of your routine, it can still be used as a supplement to brushing.
