France won their second World Cup on Sunday (15th July) after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final in Moscow.

Didier Deschamps' players came back home the day after to a heroes' welcome in Paris and are now enjoying some day of rest before starting the new season with their clubs.

France captain Hugo Lloris took advantage of this vacation to go back to his hometown of Nice, where he was greeted by Mayor Christian Estrosi and by thousands of fans.

The Tottenham Hotspur's goalkeeper talked to the media about the winning campaign in Russia, saying that the moment he realised the team could make to the end was when they beat Argentina 4-3 in the round of 16.

"All the matches have been difficult, even more in the knockout stage where everything is at stake. You can be home the day after or you can continue your campaign. This has given us strength because we wanted to stay and continue our adventure as long as possible" said Lloris.

"For a few minutes we were almost out (of the tournament) when we played against Argentina, but we reacted with our pride. We took things back in our hands and we recovered in that match against (Lionel) Messi's Argentina and I think that kind of test really opened our eyes on our potential" he added.
