Waxwork tribute to hero diver killed in Thai cave
  • 6 years ago
This beautiful waxwork is a tribute to the hero diver killed while helping to rescue 12 Thai boys and their football coach trapped in a cave.

Former Navy Seal Saman Gunan, 38, volunteered to help retrieve the Wild Boars team stranded in the Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand.

But he died on July 6 after losing consciousness on his way out of the underground complex where he had been delivering air tanks.

Locals in Nakhon Ratchasima province helped to produce the stunning orange wax works float and figure of Saman Gunan which will form part of a festival procession on July 27 and 28 as part.

Organiser Watchara Nadee said: ''We will remember the courage of Saman Gunan, the hero of the cave rescue who lost his life. We will mourn for him and give thanks for his bravery.''

The figure of Petty Officer Gunan stands 150cm and shows him smiling in his beloved diving suit with goggles around his neck.
