Girl Scouts Can Now
Earn Badges in
STEM-Related Fields STEM-related fields include
science, technology,
engineering and mathematics. The Girl Scouts
are rolling out 30 new badges
in these disciplines for girls ages 5 to 18. The news of the badges was announced
in November 2017 in an effort to
reduce the gender gap in those fields. The badges will require efforts in the areas of cybersecurity, robotics, computer science,
space exploration and the environment. Sylvia Acevedo, Girl Scouts USA CEO Discrepancies still remain
between the badges of
the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts. The Boy Scouts announced
in October of 2017 that they would
start accepting girls into their ranks.
