SME minister, lawmakers to hear out angry local business owners on minimum wage hike, 52-hour work week

Government officials and members of the National Assembly are preparing to address concerns regarding the minimum wage hike for next year,... and the new 52-hour work week initiative.
The Korea Federation of SMEs says Minister of SMEs and Start-ups Hong Jong-hak will hold a meeting on Monday with representatives of small-and-medium businesses,... which have voiced strong opposition to the ten-point-nine percent wage floor increase.
Hong will also hear the opinions of small business owners themselves,... and discuss ways to cushion the blow of the government's recent decisions.
Five lawmakers also plan to hold talks with a nationwide alliance of convenience stores which are strongly opposed the hefty increase in the minimum wage.
The nation's federation of small businesses are expected to seek out solutions,... including a system that differentiates wages,... according to the size of the business.
