Watch the fourth most venomous snake give birth to 36 hatchlings

A female Russell’s Viper has given birth to 36 hatchlings. The snake was rescued from Baramati, Pune in June. The hatchlings were delivered at Mumbai’s Haffkine Institute for Training Research and Testing, Mumbai. The institute is permitted to keep and study snakes to prepare anti-venom. The snake comes under “Big Four” venomous snakes in India. This species generally give birth to two dozen hatchlings. But this Viper gave birth to 36 hatchlings. This breed does not lay eggs but hatches them inside the body. Their babies live independently after birth.
