CPM set to celebrate Ramayana month, celebrations to start from 17th July

Two years after launching its own ‘secular’ version of Sri K Krishna Jayanthi celebrations, the CPM state unit is gearing to celebrate the ‘Ramayana month’ of kark-kada-kam, the 30-day period beginning from July 17 when the epic story of lord ram is read across the country by Hindus. The CPI(M) government in Kerala acknowledges the relevance of religion in a parliamentary democracy, particularly to win elections.
