Right to be gay Supreme Court to resume the hearing of Section 377 tommorow
  • 6 years ago
A five judge Supreme Court bench headed by CJI Dipak Misra begins hearing pleas challenging section 377 today. As many as 35 individuals have filed petitions challenging section 377 that criminalises non-penile-vaginal intercourse even between consenting adults. The LGBT community is particularly affected by this. A Supreme Court ruling in 2013 reversed a 2009 judgment of Delhi High Court that said that section 377 was unconstitutional as it criminalised consenting the same gender desiring adults.
