UN official calls for thorough probe into N. Korean waitresses who defected to S. Korea in 2016

The top UN envoy on human rights in North Korea... Tomas Quintana.... is calling on the South Korean government.... to conduct a thorough probe into the defection of 12 North Korean restaurant workers back in 2016.
During a press conference in Seoul on Tuesday,... Quintana said,.... he was concerned about the circumstances under which the waitresses came to the South,... explaining that some were brought here without knowing their destination.
He also stressed their decisions should be respected.... as to whether they intend to stay in the South or not.
Pyongyang has demanded the repatriation of the restaurant workers on numerous occasions.
