Ford Fiesta - Crash Tests 2017

Today, Euro NCAP releases safety ratings for nine new cars. Ford Fiesta passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Ford showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the full-width rigid barrier impact, protection of both the driver and rear passenger was good or adequate with the exception of the rear passenger's chest, protection of which was marginal. In the side barrier test, the Fiesta provided good protection to all critical body areas and scored full points. In the more severe side pole test, protection of the chest was adequate and that of other critical body areas was good. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection. An autonomous emergency braking system is available as an option.
