Caught on camera: Robber who killed Telangana student at US eatery

A 26-year old student from Telangana was fatally shot at a restaurant at Kansas City in Missouri state during a suspected attempted robbery, authorities said on Saturday.

The man, later identified by Indian authorities as Sharath Koppu, was shot by unidentified persons at J’s Fish and Chicken Market on Prospect Avenue on Friday evening, Capt Lionel Colon of the local police department told The Kansas City Star.

Later, Kansas City Police released CCTV footage on their YouTube channel showing the suspect scouting at the restaurant. The accompanying statement read -

“On 07-06-2017 at approximately 1910 Hours, Officers of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department were dispatched to 5412 Prospect Ave Kansas City, Jackson County, MO on a reported shooting. Upon arrival one male victim was located with apparent gunshot trauma and was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The male in the brown shirt with white stripes depicted in the video is the suspect. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Sharath Kopuu, a student at UMKC who was currently employed by the business where the homicide occurred. His family is in India and have been notified of his death.”
