Rudy Giuliani has said his client President Trump will agree to be interviewed in the Russia probe only if, according to the New York Times, special counsel Robert Mueller can show “evidence that Mr. Trump committed a crime and that his testimony is essential to completing the investigation.”

Giuliani told the Times: "If they can come to us and show us the basis and that it's legitimate and that they have uncovered something, we can go from there and assess their objectivity." 
The former New York City mayor made similar comments on Fox News Saturday, calling for Mueller to first provide a "factual basis for the investigation." 
This approach is considered to be a more aggressive one compared to the Trump team's previous willingness to work with the probe which is trying to determine, in part, if the president's campaign colluded with Russia.
Trump has denied the claim, recently calling it "an excuse for [Democrats] losing the election!" 
Nevertheless, Giuliani did leave open the possibility that the president could still speak to the special counsel, telling Fox News, "It depends on what they offer, what they come up with, how narrow the questioning is."
