Maneka Gandhi demands option to drop father's names in PAN cards applied for by single mothers

Union Minister Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi has taken up the cause of single mothers. She has written to the finance ministry seeking an option to drop the father's name from the permanent account number card of children who have been raised by them. Urging Piyush Goyal to re-examine the application process she stated that it was important to give single mothers an option of not having to mention the names of their ex-husbands on the statutory applications required to be filed before different government authorities.
