Russia Has Almost 24 Hours Of Sunlight This Time Of Year

In June, St. Petersburg and most of northern Russia experiences the "White Nights" phenomenon. Because St. Petersburg is so far north, it experiences near-24-hour sunlight from mid-May to mid-July. The sun goes down for a couple of hours after midnight but the sky is white, which is why this time of year was given the moniker of "White Nights." According to Business Insider, the sun sets after midnight and rises around 2 a.m.
