UP SCST commission seeks reply from AMU, asks why no quota for SCST students

In a significant development from Uttar Pradesh, the state SC/ST commission has issued a notice to Aligarh Muslim University for not providing reserved seats to students belonging to ST and SC community. Maintaining that Aligarh Muslim University is not a "minority institution", UP scheduled caste/scheduled tribe commission has asked the university to explain as to why it does not give reservation in admission to the SC/ST community.
