Joe Hughes admits he could retire happy if he manages to unseat Anthony Yigit for the European super lightweight title.

The 27-year-old and Yigit will slug it out over 12 rounds for the latter’s EBU belt at the Leicester Arena on Saturday December 2, live on Channel Five.

They will box under the Cyclone Promotions banner, headed by former world champion and International Hall of Famer Barry McGuigan.

They met for the first time at Leicester City Football Club, as the home of the Foxes set the stage with a press conference.

The Swedish titlist won his crown in England, outpointing the experienced Lenny Daws by unanimous decision in February.

The 26-year-old has since defended the strap in his homeland, downing Sandor Martin unanimously and will now box in the UK again.

Yigit knows the country well, having lived in London for a year-and-a-half and sparred in several gyms around the capital.

Hughes, from Malmesbury in Wiltshire, has held Southern area and English honours, also drawing with Tyrone Nurse for the British title. He spoke to Seconds Out reporter Craig Birch.
