Prime Minister Modi has spoken out at length today in an interview given to Swarajya magazine on his take on the political opposition, more so the attempts being made to make a coalition of the willing to challenge his vote gathering juggernaut in 2019. It's the most blistering attack yet made by a man who as it is not shy with taken on the opposition. Some 2019 battle lines have been drawn. The congress is dismissing it all as the bitterness of an establishment out of touch with the people and failing to deliver on it's promises. So what really is the political opposition in the country? Can the likes of Mamata and the left actually work together? Can 80 seats in U.P really be divided up by half a dozen contenders for posited mutual benefit? Or is this just the opportunism united only by the stark reality of political decimation in 2019, each hoping to the kind of prime ministers that ik Gujral and Dewegowda were in the 1990s. It's a question that you'll hear repeatedly till the polls take place. It's fundamental to the contest. We try and come closer to an answer tonight, here's what's happened.
