Passengers Rescued From Deadly Indonesian Ferry Incident Off Selayar Island

At least 29 people died and 41 others were missing after a ferry ran aground off Selayar Island, in South Sulawesi province, Indonesia, on Tuesday, July 3, Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency reported.Some 69 people were rescued at the scene, according to the reports.The manifest of MV Lestari Maju showed there were 139 people and 48 vehicles on board when it set out from Bulukumba, a town on the southern coast of Sulawesi, and the nearby Selayar Island.This Facebook Live video was shot and shared by a MV Lestari Maju passenger as the vessel was sinking on Tuesday.The incident came around two weeks after the MV Sinar Bangun vessel sank in Lake Toba, in the western Indonesian island of Sumatra, on June 18.
