Ross Montgomery insists he’s relishing playing Michael van Gerwen as the two prepare to meet at the PDC Grand Slam at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Montgomery makes his debut at the competition against the PDC No 1, himself invited as a BDO competitor.
The two will meet in the group stages, with further games to come along against Rob Cross and Joe Murnan to decide who goes through to the knockout stages.
The only PDC tournament to formally invite players from the BDO again celebrates his 10th anniversary with the 11th edition at the Civic, the only venue it’s ever been held at.
One player from the BDO will feature in all of the eight groups, with Montgomery in after climbing to No 5 in the organisation’s rankings.
The Scot has been on the rise for some time now and has nothing to lose in pitting his wits against the world’s best, as he told Tungsten Tales reporter Craig Birch.
