Trees Burn on Highway 160 as Spring Creek Fire Rages

The Spring Creek Fire stood at almost 57,000 acres and was 5 per cent contained on Monday, July 2, prompting additional evacuation notices for parts of Huerfano County, Colorado.New evacuation orders have been issued to Gardner, Chama, Malachite, Badito and Redwing, Colorado, according to local news reports.This video shows the blaze of the Spring Fire, also referred to as the Spring Creek Fire, as the uploader drove down Highway 160 on July 1, which was closed due to fire activity.The fire, which is the largest in Colorado, started in Costilla County on June 27 and immediately prompted almost 400 evacuations in Forbes Park, Colorado, according to local news reports. Evacuations were ordered for Forbes Park and Wagon Creek Estates in Costilla County, and Tres Valles subdivision in Huerfano County. Highway 160 was still closed on July 2.The fire was human-caused and is still under investigation, but the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged a man with arson on June 30.
