Shafaq Hezbullah – student of International & Comparative Politics and Human Rights at the American University of Central Asia and the founder of New Hope Afghanistan (NHA) has kept his focus on improving his country from an early age.

In January 2015 Shafaq attended the YSEL (Youth Solidarity and English Language) program, a youth camp coordinated by the US Embassy in Kabul, American Councils for International Education and Camp Future Stars in Turkey. He was the only finalist from all of the schools related to Ministry of Border and Tribal Affairs of Afghanistan. Participating in the YSEL program inspired him to learn and share his knowledge, experiences, and exchange views with those who came from different environment. This experience allowed him to build an international network of friends, increased his leadership skills, English language proficiency and social activities.

When he returned back to Afghanistan he organized over 25 separate conferences, workshops, and seminars in Afghanistan to relay what he had gained from the program to his fellow youth. As a result, he was selected as the President of the YSEL Alumni chapter in his school.
