Indian money parked in Swiss banks rises in 2017; black money fight losing sheen
  • 6 years ago
Money that Indians have parked with Swiss banks rose to a record 50.2% after registering a plunge in 2016. This development comes in the backdrop of alleged crack down by the Modi govt on black money stashed abroad in Swiss banks. In 2017 Indians had Rs 7,000 crores in Swiss banks as opposed to Rs 4500 crore in 2016. The latest figures released by the Swiss National Bank reversed a 3-year downward trend that was being observed. The latest data from SNB comes just months after a new framework was put in place to exchange information between Switzerland and India to help check the black money menace.
