Uber Wins License Back In London Following 2 Day Court Battle
The Chief Magistrate granted Uber a 15-month license to operate.
The company must undergo an independently verified audit every six months.
The win over regulator Transport for London is a boost for new Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowski.
Uber’s reputation around the world hit bottom under former CEO Travis Kalanick.
TfL had several complaints about how Uber balked at standard regulation.
They included the use of its secret "Greyball" software to dodge transport officials.
Despite Uber’s win, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the court had "vindicated" TfL.
Uber has been put on probation — their 15-month license has a clear set of conditions that TfL will thoroughly monitor and enforce.
