Emotional moment 99-year-old is re-united with lost wife

This is the heartwarming moment a 99-year-old pensioner is reunited with his wife after losing contact with her four years ago.

Emile Georges Jean-Petit-Matile had been married to Krajai, 70, for 20 years but in 2014 he needed to return to his native Switzerland for medical treatment.

During that time, Emile lost his notebook with the address and phone number of his Thai wife while he spent more than 18 months battling illness.

He was not well enough to travel back to the island of Koh Phangan where they lived and because neither of them used internet, there was no for them to contact each other. His wife believed her estranged husband had passed away after his sickness and she re-united to live with her family at their nearby home.

Emile toiled through his health problems convinced that he would never see his ''one true love'' again but earlier this month contacted tourist police at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok in a last-ditch bid to see her.

Officers managed to track down his wife.

The almost centenarian was flown to Koh Samui before boarding a boat to the neighbouring island where he and his beloved wife were filmed breaking down in tears when they were re-united.

Footage shows the couple embracing at the port harbour as Emile steps off the boat with Krajai waiting for him. They then returned to her family home. Emile said: ''I have to tell you, that even though when you are old and your body hardly works, the feelings of love and joy are just as strong.''
