Senator Richard Di Natale, leader of The Australian Greens speaking in parliament today in support of West Papuan self-determination and independence, trying to pass a motion on the issue which was denied.

In his speech, he decried the lack of support and action from the Australian government and spoke passionately about West Papua, Australia's closest neighbour, mentioning how the situation has been described as a "slow moving genocide" with over 500,000 people killed.
