ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas Wings were riding high after blowing out the Sparks on Friday in front of the home crowd. The Wings were seeking their 7th win of the season against the 2nd seed in the Western Conference. The Seattle Storm were coming off a victory over the Fever and winners of 4 of their last 5.

Both teams came out on fire and exchanged baskets for most of the first quarter. Seattle’s Kayla Mosqueda-Lewis provided a spark from deep and the Wings were establishing Liz Cambage down low. The Storm led 29-26 after the first quarter.

The hot hands cooled down a bit for both squads to start the second quarter. Seattle’s defense intensified and forced some Dallas Wings turnovers to jump out in front and led by as much as 15 points. The Storm had a huge rebounding edge and continued to hit from deep in the quarter. Dallas was able to close the half strong with Skylar Diggins-Smith distributing the ball and Liz Cambage continued her dominance in the post. The Storm led 49-42 at the half on 7/15 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Dallas Wings briefly led in the third quarter after some sharp shooting from Allisha Gray but still trailed 68-64 heading into the fourth. Liz Cambage had a quiet 3rd quarter as the Wings played a little more small ball to keep pace. Dallas got off to a quick start in the final quarter and took the lead 71-70 on a Skylar Diggins-Smith triple with 7:56 left in the game. The Wings would relinquish that lead and Seattle stormed through the rest of quarter scoring 22 straight points to pull away. WNBA leading scorer Breanna Stewart exploded in the second half and totaled 28 points and 12 rebounds. Sue Bird had 10 assists to go along with 10 points en route to a 97-76 win.

Liz Cambage finished with 23 points but only 3 of them coming in the second half. Diggins-Smith struggled from the field and finished with 10 points and 7 assists. The Wings shot only 39% from the field and were out-rebounded 39-22. Dallas travels to Los Angeles next and the Storm travel to Minnesota.
