Colombian mother turns Saransk car park into street party after Japan loss

Despite losing to Japan in Saransk in their opening match of the World Cup, this Colombian mother started her own dance party in a car park at midnight.

Footage filmed on Tuesday (June 19) after the match shows Nohora Rivero dancing outside a McDonald's in the Russian city while the tune of "La pollera colora" plays from a car stereo.

Nohora wanted everyone to dance, according to her son Dawit Demissie, who filmed the video.

She asked a local to play it on his car stereo – and the Colombians flocked.

"There were tons of Colombians at the McDonald's," Demissie told Newsflare.

He added: "We travelled from the state of Maryland [in the] USA.

"Since Colombia wasn't able to qualify for the world cup for most of my life, I promised [my mother] several years ago, if they were able to qualify again, I would take her, and so now I've had a chance to fulfil that promise!"

Colombia lost to Japan 2-1 in their opening match of their World Cup campaign in Russia.

They now face Poland in a crunch-match for both teams on Sunday in Kazan.
