The new Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia has, like many before him, been hailed as a great hope for reform by many Western leaders and pundits in recent months. Mohammed bin Salman will push through a historic law this week, allowing Saudi women the right to hold a driving license. However, many critics are still not convinced by his efforts.

Tariq recently spoke to one of these critics, the writer and academic Madawi Al-Rasheed, who teaches at the London School of Economics in the UK, and has written a number of books on her country of birth.
