A brush fire was ignited at the hills just below Griffith Observatory, a popular attraction in Los Angeles, on the evening of June 19.

The video, shared to Twitter by Adrian Escobedo, shows a firefighting helicopter tackling the fire in the hills. Escobedo was just returning from a trail walk at Griffith Park and was on the way to the observatory to see the stars when he saw the blaze.

"We looked down the ravine and saw at the base of the mountain a fire the size of a fire pit," he told Newsflare. "In a matter of minutes it started growing rapidly."

Griffith Observatory is known to be an attraction for tourists, who often make the trek up for a view of the famed Hollywood sign. About three to four acres of land were burned by the blaze, which was watched by a crowd of spectators as firefighters arrived on the scene.

No structures were damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
