Type 2 Diabetes May Be Sign Of Pancreatic Cancer
  • 6 years ago
According to UPI, a new study found a correlation between the onset of type 2 diabetes after 50, and pancreatic cancer.
Conducted by USC's Keck School of Medicine, the study included almost 16,000 diabetes patients over 20 years.
Over those two decades, 408 participants developed pancreatic cancer, including 128 with type 2 diabetes.
According to Dr. Wendy Setiawan, the study's lead author, African Americans and Hispanics were at the highest risk.
Dr. Setiawan added that those minority groups were twice as likely to develop pancreatic cancer if they had diabetes as well.
