The Archbishop of Port of Spain says this country should welcome refugees even though it can be tempered with good sense.

Speaking in San Fernando, Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon said this country has been welcoming refugees and citizens from Venezuela for hundreds of years and it has been a two-way flow.

He said now is the time for locals to be welcoming to our neighbours.

He said that he would hate to think that our generation is the one to throw away the values of sharing and caring for those in need.

Archbishop Gordon said he agrees with the Prime Minister that Trinidad and Tobago is not a refugee camp, but this situation is different to the normal refugee situation.
