Goa Government to ban swimming at night

In a bid to crackdown on errant tourists, Goa’s Tourism Department might ban swimming in the sea from dusk to dawn and can limit tourism activity to a limited area on a beach. According to reports the recent spate of incidents involving tourists, including gangrapes and mass drownings have forced to government to take immediate measures to curb such occurrences.
Government also planning to hire a private lifeguard agency and water patrolling around the clock.
In March 2018, a 20-year-old woman was gangraped in front of her boyfriend at a South Goa beach. Records suggest that the number of rape cases registered in 2018 may overtake the 2017 figure, which itself was a sharp 21% hike over the previous year.
